Etsy Payment Account Not Working? Fix No Money Available for Deposit

Dana makes soy candles in a converted garage in Austin, Texas, and our team built her product photos and runs her Etsy ads. In early October she sent us a screenshot. Her note said: "Etsy says no money available for deposit, but I sold 31 candles this week." Her Total balance showed $612. Her Current balance showed minus $48. Her question was one we hear a lot: is my Etsy payment account not working, and how do I get paid before rent on Friday?

An Austin Etsy seller checks a payment account that shows no money available for deposit.

Nothing was broken. Etsy changed how the Payment account shows money in 2026, and most of Dana’s sales were sitting in a new Pending balance with their fees attached. A batch of shipping labels had pushed her Current balance below zero. Once you know which balance Etsy pays from, a missing deposit usually takes about five minutes to diagnose.

Etsy only deposits money from your Current balance. If it says no money available for deposit, your Current balance is zero, negative or below your deposit minimum. Recent sales sit in Pending until they clear, which can take 14 days for new sellers. Reserves, a 5-day hold after a bank change and unconfirmed seller details also stop deposits.

Why Etsy Says No Money Available for Deposit

Etsy shows no money available for deposit when your Current balance has nothing it can send. Your Payment account now splits money into Current, Pending and Total. Only Current is paid out. A large Total with a zero or negative Current means your sales haven’t cleared yet, or that fees and labels used up the cleared money.

Etsy announced the new layout on July 27, 2026 and rolled it out over the following months. Its September 2026 seller update explains the main change. Sale fees now “stay grouped with the earnings from that sale instead of being deducted right away.” That’s good for cash flow, but it confuses sellers who learned the old screen.

How Your Current Balance Goes Negative

Sale fees now wait in Pending with their sale. Other charges still hit Current the day you buy them: Etsy Ads, shipping labels, listing and renewal fees, refunds and subscriptions like Etsy Plus. Buy $90 of labels while your sales are still pending and Current drops below zero. When those sales clear, the earnings move to Current and cover the gap.

That’s what happened to Dana. She bought $110 of labels on Monday for orders placed that weekend. Those orders were still pending, so her Current balance went to minus $48 and Etsy had nothing to send. By Thursday the sales had cleared, and her Current balance was back above $500.

7 Reasons Your Etsy Payment Account Isn’t Paying Out

An Etsy payment account not working almost always comes down to one of seven causes. Your sales haven’t cleared, or your Current balance is negative. You may be under the deposit minimum or have changed banks. A reserve, unconfirmed details or an invalid card or bank can also stop payouts. Check them in this order.

1. Your Sales Haven’t Cleared Yet

Etsy says new sellers generally have funds eligible for deposit 14 days after a sale. Established shops in good standing may see money as soon as the next business day. Until a sale clears, it sits in Pending. If your shop is new, a full Pending balance with an empty Current balance is normal for the first few weeks.

2. Fees, Labels or Refunds Pushed Current Below Zero

Etsy’s rule is plain: “If you have an amount due or a negative balance, you won’t have funds available for deposit.” Open your Recent activity and look for label purchases, ad charges and refunds since your last deposit. If these explain the gap, wait for pending sales to clear, or slow label buying until they do.

3. You’re Under the Deposit Minimum

Daily deposits only go out once your Current balance passes a minimum. Etsy lists USD 25, EUR 20 and GBP 15 as examples, and some countries also charge a deposit fee below a set threshold. A $19 Current balance on a daily schedule sends nothing. Switch to weekly or use Request it now if Etsy shows the option.

4. You Changed Your Bank Account

A new bank account must be verified, then your sales aren’t eligible for deposit for 5 business days. US sellers verify through Plaid, either instantly with an online banking login or with a $0.01 test deposit that can take up to 7 days to show. The hold sits on top of any reserve, so the two can stack.

5. A Payment Account Reserve Is Holding Part of Each Sale

A reserve holds a share of every new physical sale for a set time. Digital items aren’t reserved. Etsy releases each order’s money once tracking shows it’s in transit, or after a default period if there’s no tracking. Etsy says most reserves end within 90 days, and released funds become available at 6pm ET on the release day.

Star Sellers don’t get reserves, and Etsy support agents can’t remove one. The fastest way out is to add tracking to every order the day you ship it. Reserved money now shows inside Pending, and affected orders carry an “Order in reserve” badge on your Orders page.

6. Etsy Needs You to Confirm Your Details

Etsy may hold deposits until you confirm your seller information. Look for a banner at the top of your Shop Manager dashboard. Sellers outside the US must also verify their bank account after the first sale, usually starting within 30 days and finishing within 60. Miss that deadline and Etsy can suspend the shop.

7. Your Card or Bank Details Aren’t Valid

Etsy needs a valid credit or debit card on file to send you Etsy Payments funds. A non-reloadable prepaid card can be added, but it can’t be your only or primary card. An expired card, or a bank account Etsy can’t verify, stops deposits. Check both under Finances, then Payment settings.

How to Check What’s Holding Your Etsy Money

Open Shop Manager, select Finances, then Payment account. Compare your Current and Pending balances, read any banner, and check for a Payment account reserve section below your Total. In the Etsy Seller app, tap More, then Finances, then Payment account. The whole check takes about five minutes.

  1. Read your Current balance. If it’s negative, open Recent activity and find the charges behind it.
  2. Read your Pending balance. If it’s large, your sales are still clearing.
  3. Look for a Payment account reserve section. It only appears when a reserve is active.
  4. Check your deposit status and schedule under Payment settings.
  5. Look for banners asking you to verify a bank account or confirm your details.
  6. Download your monthly statement CSV. The Availability Date column gives an estimated release date for each reserved sale.

Each step matches one of the seven causes above, so whatever you find tells you which fix applies. If everything looks clean and Current is positive, the money has probably already left Etsy.

Deposit Sent but Not in Your Bank

If Etsy shows a deposit as sent, give it 1 to 5 business days, because standard deposits depend on your bank. Weekends and holidays push it to the next business day. If it still hasn’t arrived after that, check that your bank details and account currency are correct, then call your bank before contacting Etsy.

When Your Bank Sends the Money Back

A wrong account number, a closed account or a currency mismatch can make your bank return the deposit. Etsy then shows the money as an adjustment in your Payment account and emails you to review your bank details. After you fix them, a precautionary 5-day hold applies before payouts restart on your normal schedule.

Sometimes your bank says nothing arrived but Etsy says it sent the money. Ask the bank for a signed letter with your name, the account currency and the last four digits of the account. Etsy needs that letter to ask its processor for proof of payment.

Sellers in Pakistan, the UAE and Other Payoneer Countries

If Etsy pays you through Payoneer, deposits only leave Etsy on Mondays. Once Etsy marks them sent, the money is Payoneer’s to track, so contact Payoneer if it doesn’t appear. Update your bank details inside Payoneer, not in Etsy. Sellers in Lahore or Karachi who are new to it can create a Payoneer account in Pakistan before the first sale.

Etsy Payment Account Page Not Loading

A Payment account page that won’t load or shows blank figures is usually a browser or app problem, not a money problem. Try the page on Etsy.com in a different browser, then in the Etsy Seller app. Clear your cache, sign out and back in, and turn off ad blockers for Etsy.

Shops that were suspended need Etsy.com for some tasks, because bank verification isn’t available in the app while a shop is suspended. If a bank verification screen says to come back later, wait 24 to 48 hours. Etsy says its support team can’t remove that message.

How to Contact Etsy About a Missing Deposit

Sign in to Etsy, open the Help Center contact page and choose the payments topic that fits your problem. Depending on your country and the time, you can chat, request a callback or send a message. Have your deposit date, amount and bank letter ready, because Etsy will ask for them first.

  • Chat: offered in some countries during set hours.
  • Callback: request it from the Help Center. Etsy doesn’t take inbound calls.
  • Message: replies can take several days, so start here if the issue isn’t urgent.

Be careful with anyone who contacts you first. Etsy only calls when you’ve booked a callback, and phone numbers found in search results are often scams. Never share your login or bank details with a caller who says they’re from Etsy.

If payment fees are eating into what reaches your bank, it helps to know how processors price each sale. If you also sell on your own website, see how Stripe and PayPal fees compare.

Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to the payout questions Etsy sellers ask most.

Why does Etsy say no money available for deposit?

Because your Current balance, the only balance Etsy pays out, is zero, negative or below your deposit minimum. Recent sales sit in Pending until they clear, and charges like shipping labels and ads come out of Current right away. A reserve, a new bank account or an unpaid amount due can also block deposits. Open Finances, then Payment account, to see which one applies.

Why is my Etsy Current balance negative?

Charges that aren’t tied to a sale come out of Current as soon as you incur them. Shipping labels, Etsy Ads, listing and renewal fees, refunds and subscriptions all count. If you buy them before your recent sales clear, Current goes below zero. It recovers once pending earnings move across. If your total balance is negative at month end, you’ll owe that amount from the 1st.

How long does Etsy hold money for new sellers?

Etsy says new sellers generally have funds eligible for deposit 14 days after a sale. A reserve can add more time on physical items, though most reserves end within 90 days. Shipping on time and adding tracking to every order shortens it, because Etsy releases reserved money once tracking shows the order is in transit. Established shops can be paid as soon as the next business day.

How long does an Etsy deposit take to reach my bank?

Standard deposits usually arrive within 1 to 5 business days, depending on your bank. Weekends and public holidays move them to the next business day. Some US sellers can use instant transfer, which usually arrives within about 30 minutes for a 1% fee of $0.25 to $1. Payoneer sellers receive Etsy payouts on Mondays only. If a deposit is late past five business days, check your bank details first.

Can Etsy support remove a payment account reserve?

No. Etsy says its support agents can’t remove a reserve. Etsy reviews reserves regularly and can lower or lift them as your shop builds a track record. Ship on time, add tracking the day you ship, answer buyer messages within a day and keep refunds low. Star Sellers don’t get reserves at all, so earning that badge ends the problem.

Why didn’t I get paid after changing my bank account?

Etsy holds sales for 5 business days after you switch to a different bank account, to protect against misuse. The new account must also be verified first, which can take up to 7 days with a US test deposit. The hold doesn’t apply if you only verify the account already on file. Reserves can add time on top, so check for both in your Payment account.

Can I get my Etsy money faster?

Sometimes. If your Current balance is positive, look for Request it now or Start a transfer under Ready for deposit. Select US sellers can use instant transfer for $25 to $500 once every 24 hours. Choosing a daily deposit schedule also helps once you clear the minimum. None of these options touch money that’s still in Pending, so they only help once your sales have cleared.

What happens if my bank rejects an Etsy deposit?

The money returns to your Etsy Payment account as an adjustment, and Etsy emails you to check your bank details. Fix the account number, account type or currency, and Etsy restarts payouts on your normal schedule after a 5-day hold. If your bank says it never received a deposit Etsy marked as sent, ask the bank for a signed letter first.

Your Etsy Payment Account Is Probably Working

Dana’s $612 was never in danger. Her Pending balance cleared over three days, the labels were covered, and her next weekly deposit reached her bank two business days after Etsy sent it. She now buys labels after sales clear, adds tracking to every order to stay clear of reserves, and checks Current rather than Total before planning a bill.

When your Etsy payment account is not working, start with the balance that matters. Read Current, then Pending, then look for banners and a reserve section. Fix a negative balance, wait out a bank-change hold, verify your details and call your bank before Etsy. Most cases of an Etsy payment account not working, and most “no money available for deposit” messages, clear without a support ticket. Which balance does your screen show right now: Current or Total?
